Few coaches would argue the immense value of an experiences trainer - and at the University of Arkansas, Bill Ferrel's player popularity and professional skills marked him among the very best. He was a member of the Razorback staff under four head coaches - joining the department in the spring of 1950. A native Virginian and graduate of William & Mary, he enjoyed a full life of collegiate, professional and private athletics that well equipped him for his job. At the University of Arkansas, he doubled as head baseball coach and developed some of the finest Porker squads. His responsibilities included team travel and general itinerary - so he had wide bowl experience under Coach Frank Broyles. A family man in a big way, Bill and his wife Rite had 11 children. He previously has been inducted into the Southwest Athletic Trainers' Association Hall of Fame and the National Athletic Trainers' Association Hall of Fame.
