Sherry re-entered college in 1985 to pursue a degree in Athletic Training.  A late bloomer to the Athletic Training Profession she received a BSE in Education with an emphasis in Athletic Training from the University of Arkansas in 1988.  Member of Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society and the Golden Keys Honor Society at the University of Arkansas.

First student athletic trainer to combine on-campus and off-campus internship at the University of Arkansas.

Began practicing as an ATC in 1989 working for Doug Parker Orthopedics for six years.  During those six years of employment she worked with the Ozark Schools and intermittently with the University of the Ozarks.  Women’s Athletic Trainer for the Arkansas All-Star Games in Conway, AR in 1990.

At the present time she has been employed by Cooper Clinic, Fort Smith, Arkansas for 11 years in July.  She is the Head Athletic Trainer for Northside High School and its two contributing Junior High Schools.  Under the umbrella of Cooper Clinic, she has worked with the United States Department of Energy for 3 years, lectured to numerous career classes, coaches’ workshops, industrial and school career fairs.  Helped organize and administrate the Cooper Clinic Student Athletic Trainers’ Workshop beginning in 1997 with approximately 200 high school students completing the week course.  This workshop is presently in its 10th year.

Sherry has served as the AATA registrar from 1999-2002, a presenter for the SATA in 2001, served for the AATA Committee for the Arkansas Activities Association All-Star Games from 2003-2005, and Arkansas representative on the SWATA Women in Athletic Training Committee from 1999-2004, SWATA registration volunteer 2002-2004.  First female ATC to graduate from an Arkansas university and practice in the state.

She is very active in the Fort Smith community and has served Grand Avenue Baptist as church pianist for 30 years. She has been an avid long distance runner for 25 years completing one marathon in 1982 and enjoys a variety of recreational sports.
