Hall of Fame

The Arkansas Athletic Trainers’ Association Hall of Fame exists to recognize the very best of our profession in the state of Arkansas. Induction into the Hall of Fame honors athletic trainers who exemplify the mission of AATA through significant, lasting contributions that enhance the quality of healthcare provided by athletic trainers and advance the profession. These men and women have shaped the profession through their noteworthy accomplishments and dedication to service, leadership and professionalism.

Eligibility 

  • A member must be in good standing with AATA/SWATA/NATA or must be a retired/deceased member at the time of nomination.

  • Must have at least (20) years of service, being actively engaged in athletic training, sports medicine, the care of the physically active, and the support/promotion of athletic training of the athletic training profession in the state of Arkansas.

  • Must have contributions to the athletic training profession that have brought distinction to the AATA and/or be recognized as having a significant service to the association. 

  • Any member inducted into the NATA and/or SWATA Hall of Fame will be automatically nominated, but not guaranteed induction, for the AATA Hall of Fame. 

Special Considerations 

  • Deceased athletic trainers who have not met the length of service requirements of 20 years, may be considered if, while working in Arkansas, brought distinction to the association because of their achievements, contributions to the profession, exceptional/devoted care of the physically active and service to the association. 

  • Athletic Trainers in another state in good standing, who at one time did work in a position in the state of Arkansas, may be considered if their contributions to the profession have brought distinction to the AATA. The length of service requirement in Arkansas would be 15 years.

  • Athletic Trainers who are natives to the state of Arkansas who have made contributions or brought distinction to the athletic training profession, care of the physically active; NATA, SWATA Hall of Fame may be considered. The length of service requirement would be the mandatory 15 years. 

Nominations Process 

  • All nomination forms and a list of eligible members will be provided by the Chair of the Hall of Fame Committee to the members of the Hall of Fame.

  • These committee members may nominate prospective member(s) by completing the form(s) and returning it to the Chair. Forms must be submitted electronically.

  • Additional nominations may be taken from a general member in good standing.

  • General members must contact the HOF Chair and request a nomination form.

  • All nominations will be taken by the Chair until submission deadline each year.

  • Upon receiving nomination forms, the Chair will send out to the nominee the “Eligible Candidate Form” to complete and return along with their Athletic Training vita (resume). These are to be returned to the Chair by submission deadline.

Selection 

  • Hall of Fame Chair will work with living HoF members to score and select nominations. 

  • Selected individuals will be notified of their selection in April.

  • Once the inductee has acknowledged and accepted, the AATA President will announce the selection to the general membership. 

  • The Hall of Fame inductee will be recognized during the annual AATA Honors and Awards Ceremony. 

  • The AATA Executive Board will host a social event for the honoree(s) to recognize their induction.
